The day started off on the wrong foot with the fire ants but ended pretty darn well. I knew that there had to be a silver quarter out here somewhere and finally found it. The 1942 quarter, my 1st, was perfect, well in my eyes it was. The Field Artillery collar disk was another surprise, I found it about 200 yds from the other military dogtags etc. The disk still has the backing and I backed it off to get the dirt out. I found a 41 nickle not far from where my wife found the nice Buff and then a two wheatie spill, 1925 and 29 and then a 39 and a 41 wheatie. I was pretty hot and was doing my usual "walk about" to finish the hunt when I got a whisper of a signal with no VDI. I was about twenty yards from the truck and to my surprise, an 1887 IH appeared and in decent shape too. it has been years since my last IH find so I was very happy with it too. the bicycle bell rang up good too. This permission has really paid off so far, I am really a very blessed man. The wife? well, she had to go back to work yesterday with the special needs kids at the middle school. She was totally jealous when I sent her pics of my finds. she is already making plans to go back out there and would be right now except for a barely walking grand daughter came visiting. The fire ants? well they got me pretty good but the finds sure helped with the bites. Permissions can truly pay off but only if you ask, so go ask!
