Finally found a bank that will sell me bags!

So I went on a hunt today... about 40 banks, took pretty much all day.

First bank of the morning had $210 customer rolls which I knew were a dump the second I saw the check mark on the rolls. I bought them anyway and will just dump them at TD with the rest, at least it gets them out of here so when I go back next time they won't offer me up the same dump...

For the most part it was not nearly as fruitful as I would have liked, ended up with 17 40% total.

The last bank, which I was about to skip, told me that a customer (old man) had dropped off $394 in halves after his wife died. Since I wasn't a customer I wasn't able to purchase them... I now have a savings account with this bank. I didn't get much out of the bag :( only 5 40% halves.

The better part is that they have no problem ordering me multiple boxes of halves at once, will call me when customers bring in older coins and will sell me bags. Now granted they don't have a customer coin counter, but they do it for free for their customers. I may try a bag of dimes or quarters and see what happens...

All said and done I wound up with about $650 in halves from the hunt, most of which will find it's way to TD very soon! A couple of places said that someone else had just beat me to them...

try and develop a good rapport with the people at TD where you dump, bring them donuts and stuff if you are dumping lots of halves. If you get in good enough with them, they might let you take a look at their rejects from the Penny Arcade. The machine rejects silver and dimes often find their way into the rejects. It's also a good way to get some free foreign coins, not just looking for older ones, but I have several British pounds and a whole lot of Canadian and Euros that I got for free from the rejects at my local TD.
