FINALLY- First Silver for 2015, and it's a BIG Silver

Finally got out with one of my friends to a new permission. Only about 15 minutes into the hunt at this older farm house in the country, I got a sweet 90-91 signal at the edge of the yard. The signal was so sweet, I knew it couldn't have been anything other than a half dollar. They have such a distinct, sweet sound, a sound that every detectorist, like myself loves to hear. I only had one problem though, the ground was almost completely frozen in the spot where I was (because winter doesn't want to leave PA). It took me probably 15 minutes to get down to it, and finally with a final thrust of my shovel, a flash of silver popped right out of the hole. It was a 1944 Walking Liberty Half in great condition. What a way to start off the detecting season!!! Hell of a way to kick off your 2015 Silver finds!!! Big Silver Congrats! She's a beauty, I have only found two and you're right about that super sweet tone and the ID numbers on the E-Trac are a give-away.

Nice!! there have been a lot of walkers found lately??? Glad I am one of them too!!! Congrats!!

Great looking half there! I can relate to the frozen digging, man it's aggravating. Good thing you stuck with it and dug that baby up!

Wow, Sweet!!

Everyone is finding big silver... except me. Lol I got a 91-92 hit the other day and thought "my turn", not. Mine was a 48 Washington.

Congrats man!!

Super chunk of Silver!

The walker is by far my favorite coin design. I love everything about it! Well done!! Great score!

all that hard work jackhammering through the frozen tundra paid off!, great half!!

Nice silver. The big ones feel real nice in the hand

That looks to be in really nice shape! Congratulations! Nice frozen ground you had to dig in, funny my first hunt in January of this year came across a similar situation, great sounding signal, tried to dig but ground was frozen. Worked on it for quite awhile and came up with a silver Washington quarter.

Yep. We're getting into 68 degrees this Thursday, so this icy ground won't last much longer! GL and HH

Nice find, they are so scarce out here, I have no idea what one would sound like !

Congrats on a really nice looking Walker. We are making warm weather down here in the South, and sending it up that way! GL&HH.
