Hi everyone,
So far in 2007 I have not been out detecting that often. Between family, work and other obligations it seems like I get out only once or twice a month. So you may have read my last post titled sniper hunts where I go on very short hunts and see what I can find.

The plan was while the wife and daughter were at a baby shower I would go on a nice hunt for a few hours. Mother Nature had other plans so within a half hour of the wife pulling out of the driveway the skies opened up and rained for hours. My opportunity lost but that is where my sniper hunt comes in.

Wife gets home so we spend sometime talking and I play with my daughter...I had to play...Baby Shower. She was in her little rocking chair and I had to hand some of her toys she wrapped when she got home. Trust me it is not the most embarrassing thing I have done for her. Kids change you for the better. I went from riding a Harley Davidson Fatboy to playing baby shower and would not change it for anything in the world.

So the family gets hungry and nobody wants to cooks so we order a pizza. The wife tells me it will be ready in 20 minute. A light goes off...between my house and the pizza shop is a park...sniper hunt. In 20 minutes I pulled a 1939 Mercury in good shape and my first buffalo nickel a 1936. It only took me 1 1/2 years to find the buffalo. It was on my goals list for this year. Now I only have three more goals to complete. I also found a BSA neckerchief slide and what I think is an old lipstick tube.

I know a buffalo is not that big of a deal but I've found a bunch of mercury dimes so I knew the buffaloes should be there. At first when I began MDing I hated digging all the pulltabs so I thought I probably just missed the nickels but I've started digging then as of late. I figured nickels and gold rings aren't the worst things in the world and I clean up a few pulltabs in the process.

Well I think finding a buffalo is a good thing~ 8) And so's the merc! ;)

Way to go! Great that you love your family so, too!

Fantastic "sniper" hunt!

The reverse of the Merc looks AU.

Congrats on the Buffalo!

Nice finds you got there...Congrats on your first buffalo. Just imagine what you'll find hunting it all day as opposed to just 20 min.... maybe several buffalos ;)

Okay... now that yer done goofing around get back on the fatboy!!!! 8)

I know...it is actually up for sale. Nice, black 96 Fatboy with a screaming eagle kit and lots of extra chrome if anyone is interested. Once it is sold I'm going to shop around for a convertible muscle car that way I can take the entire family with me when I want a nice weekend drive.

Thanks everyone for the congratulation.
