Wow... that was the first coin I ever bought! It was in 1977 when I was 18 years old. It spawned 25 years of buying and selling coins. I had my own coin store for 20 of those years. Thanks for the memory

That's probably one of the first ones I had bought as well. I love the design on them. Also there's a 1925 with a cowboy and horse on it that I buy anytime I can find them around $20 !

Cuda, its actually my third commerative, unless you count the doubles I have. I have two children so I try to get two of anything

It is the oldest commemorative design in United States Coin History. I personally have one.

My head is spinning by your historical slight. Your characterization of a cowboy and horse are surely made in jest. The alternative is hard to fathom. The "cowboy" you alluded to is none other than General Robert E. Lee consulting with Stonewall Jackson. The proceeds of the commemorative were to fund the Stone Mountain Memorial outside of Atlanta, GA.
