I generally have TERRIBLE luck at estate sales. Generally, the prices are way too high, there are far too many people, and there is just no room to make a reasonable profit after paying paypal, ebay, USPS, and so on. I was finished a bit early on Saturday (some nice finds, 2 bug zappers for $8 that should go for $75 each. A nice English Saddle, some Starbucks stuff including a coffee maker, and so on). I saw that about 10 miles from my house, there was an Estate sale that closed at 3pm, so I ran out. The prices were typical for estate sale (high high high), but since this was the only day, and they were going to close in an hour, they were ready to deal. They had a BUNCH of Franciscan Apple china, including a bunch of serving pieces. Normally I do not look at this stuff as the profit margins are so low, that it is not worth it, but my mother in law collects the stuff, Mothers' day is coming up, so I figured I could pick out a cheap gift (Christmas was a Garage Sale Waterford Chrystal Bowl in the box... She went nuts). They had some Accent tiles, Put them in a frame, and they are perfect trivets. I've never seen this design of Franciscan ware on Tiles, so I bought all 5 tiles for $20. They also had 6 small and 2 large tumblers (drinking cups). I got all of them for $20. As I was walking, there was a BEAUTIFUL Glass vase. Some careful checking and I saw it was a Steve Lundberg Paperweight vase. They wanted $200, but I was able to get it and another art vase for $100.

That may be the find of the year. One sold at auction on Ebay last week for about the same money. My wife loved it, but when she saw what it was worth, well, she was more than willing to sell it.
