Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I have been hunting some woods close to my house and found a nice spot that has had some activity. I have found Civil War and prior. Had a pretty good day today.

20170930_083933.jpg 20170930_143509.jpg 20170930_143526.jpg I found one back when I first started metal detecting and it was in worse shape than this one. I have been waiting for another. This one is rough and someone has hammered straight edges on it for some reason. I can only make out the first and last number for the date 1__9.

20170917_145851.jpg 20170917_150416.jpg This was an interesting button, it is a 2 piece button with the shank on the back. I think that is rust on the front.

20170930_143303.jpg This flat button is small but looks really cool with that symbol on the front.

20170917_150712.jpg 20170917_150731.jpg Not sure what this one is, I believe its solid brass. Some sort of collar pin?

20170923_072921.jpg 20170924_094742.jpg These woods had a lot of small tree's close together making it hard to swing a coil. The buttons I have found have either disintegrated or came out of the ground in very rough shape. I managed to find this New York cuff in one piece.

20170930_144006.jpg 20170930_144040.jpg 20170930_144056.jpg A thimble and the second photo, I'm not sure. Its small and brass, has the hook on the bottom.

20170930_144112.jpg 20170930_150721.jpg 20170930_150903.jpg Another small button and this other piece looks like it was from a very fancy buckle. I wasn't able to find the rest of it.

20170930_153326.jpg 20170930_153413.jpg 20170930_153117.jpg I have found a close to 50 bullets so far, some are Washington Arsenal's

15838.jpeg 15939.jpeg 20170930_164357.jpg This last photo shows what I have been able to find from this spot so far. Thanks for looking. HH.

Nice finds ! I do not think its a large cent, you need to clean off reverse a little--token is my guess:icon_thumleft:

Its a box stud. (A kind of tack that went on wood)

Holy moly you found a sweet spot congrats on all the great finds and good luck on finding more.HH

Congrats on some nice finds. The first largie I found in my yard was hammered flat in the same manner as yours. I think it was an attempt at making a coin ring.

Congrats on that largie, and other very nice finds. Crazy how people customized those coins back in the day.

Nice hunt David! Looks like you have another great spot. Hammer it

You are getting an impressive collection of relics from this sight. Love the "sun" flat button. Great bunch of old lead too. Looks like potential for that one mind blowing find to be lurking about somewhere.:headbang:

Looks like you've got yourself a nice spot. Great variety of finds. Congrats on the large cent. Toasty or not, they're always a thrill to see come out of the ground.
