Have you ever kept going back to a spot hoping to just get one keeper from? That's how this field site was. They plow it every fall and I hunt it every spring, now for the last 4 years. I always seem to pick up heel plates, lantern parts, and other misc. brass, but can't seem to ever get a coin or even a button here. Today I had a little time to hunt so thought I would try it once again. I was just about done covering the site when I got a low tone on my machine...64 fatty! Nothing to get overly excited about, I think I have found about 20 or more fatties now, but FINALLY found a coin on this spot. The pewter spoon part says Brita on it, not sure if I have found any pewter with a stamp on it before.

Some times you just have to go with your feelings, Nice IH and that bell I found one just like it last year, CONGRATS and nice buck too :hello:

Gotta love those Fatty's :icon_thumright: Noce dig's!

I know what you mean about knowing there should be "SOMETHING!!!" in this spot... I have a few foundation sites I frequent that have produced nothing but the draining of my gas. but for some reason or another I keep going back, thinking theres gotta be something there. lantern parts are a good sign that people used that area at night, i know ive lost a few items at night.
cool finds, and good topic,

I have found 'Brita" pewter spoons at a pre-civil war camp out in the Utah Territoy. Well done!!

Those finds remind me of KY and IN finds. Great stuff, and nice to get a great keeper. Heck, I like the bell a lot.

Cheers,

Buck

Glad to see your site finally provided elder coinage. I think Indians are one of the cooler U.S. designs and the harder-to-find fatties give them even more mystique. Well done!
