I found this while MDing and I haven't a clue as to what it is.
0question.gif

It was 4 inches deep. 2.25 inches long, close to an inch at the base of it.
The black is hard plastic. It has a hole in it and as you can see a hole at the wide end.
It looks like it goes to something or is a part of something, but what?
Any ideas as to what this is? I have never seen anything like it.
Thanks

Its sure a part of something. Looking at the wide end, just inside around the hole it looks like its made of cork, very old cork. You can see the corking in the pictures as it has tiny holes in it.
If you look at the upper right picture, on the side it looks like it has raised section like it would fit into something and then you would have to turn it for it to stay in what ever it went into. I am thinking maybe some sort of small light bulb attached to the wide end because of the corking and maybe small wires came out the black plastic end, maybe to some really old truck or car, maybe even an old tractor as I am in ranch/farm country.

I am not sure about a spark plug cap, and not sure what an old sender unit would look like. :dontknow:

Please keep the suggestions coming, its got to be something.
Thank you kindly

I think you hit the nail on the head! It is a light bulb socket for a tractor light, tail light, or something of that nature. The bulb would be placed in the socket and turned so little seating nubs on the bulb would hold it in securely. What you see in the bottom right photo is actually the base of a broken off bulb.

Thanks creskol,
I am going to call this one solved and mark it as so.
I am also going to soak it and see if I can get the old bulb base out.
Thanks everyone for all your help.
