Field hunting in fall isn't something i really like.
Went to two roman sites i never detected before. First was fresh plowed with heavy clay. Need i say more? After hauling my boots one hour through the field i decided to leave. Went up the path to clean my boots in the grass i looked in the neighbor field. Red. Pottery, shards, tiles.... I made only a few swings there, the field was fresh planted. What a site! A very big roman villa site.... WooHoo! Ok, i have to wait till next year... Managed some trash, a lead spindle whorl(?) and a belt mount, looking military. Good sign!
I was in good spirits on the way home. I came along another site i have on the list since last year. Very small, no priority, but still in stubble. I had another hour or so till dark. Some bits and pieces, one coin and a piece of a big buckle??
