Detector(s) used
Minelab E-trac w/Sunray probe
These are my finds for April 9, 2011. The Standing Liberty quarter on top was found in an old park and the rest were found in a field that use to be a hang out spot for teenagers back in the 1940s. The field yielded a Walking Liberty half, 4 silver Washington quarters, 14 Mercury dimes, 2 silver Roosevelt dimes, 3 Buffalo nickels, 4 Jefferson nickels (1941-42) and 34 Wheat pennies. Best field I have ever metal detected and I have only scratched the surface. I was told by the farmer that this area had been metal detected by a number of people over the years and obviously as you can see they didn't do a very good job. These were all good loud hits.

WTG, now that's a lot of silver. Gotta put on my sunglasses to take a look at the group picture!

WOW look at all those Mercs!!! :o :o

wow- great pic! what detector have you been using? what state are you also in? (not to give away your field of silver!)... great coins. very impressive. :notworthy:

For your first post that is a doozy. Finding that many nickels is a sensation. Nickels have been the most consistently hard coins to find for many Tnet members for some reason. Monty

That's a sweet lot of silver...especially for a 1 day hunt. Congrats! What state are you in, and what kind of detector do you use?

Man that's a lot of oldies!!!

A-MAZ-ING!!! I haven't found near that much in three years thrown together! Let us know what you find the next time you go!

I managed to get permission to hunt this area again yesterday so tune in tonight for a picture of what I found. I will title it Field of Silver: The Sequel! lol
