Firstly sorry for the late post, as this is Sunday's finds, but it takes a long while for Cru'Dad to record the coins to the British Museum standard - THANKS:hello:
Once again this year we lucked in with another good field having a deeper than usual plough. We had to laugh to ourselves when the owner angrily told us that the worker had made a mistake & gone too deep. He always does a shallow turn but this one was 7.5 inches. We had to move quick as we only had a 3 day window before we had to be off.
I gridded for nearly 6 hours & Cru'Dad did 4.5.

78 Roman Bronze Coins - A 1 day record for this year.:icon_thumright:
Roman Bracelet Bits
Roman Disc Brooch
Roman Steel-Yard Weight
Roman Furniture Finial
Roman Mystery piece
1/2 Lead Token
Medieval Barrel Shaped Mount
Cut Halfpenny Short-Cross

UPDATE (From Cru'dad states the stats on the field);

''Some may wonder about why a poorer silver ratio for this site – the answer is that the site was most heavily used in the Constantine family era when very few silvers circulated. So you get a lot of AD310 to 340 coinage where in UK you get virtually no silvers.

We have found from the earlier occupation period of AD50-225 (8 denarii) and later C4th onwards AD364-400 (5 Siliqua) - periods where you get the more normal ratio of silver to bronze - while in Antoninianus period AD245-295 (only 2 silver) .

We have no silvers found for period AD 295-350 which is the norm. So in total to date (starting 2009) we have found 15 silver coins versus 1364 bronze on this site – a ratio of 1:91 (although over last 3 years only 1:339!)''

What a great day of hunting! Do you think there may be a cache of coins or were they pretty well spread out?

Steve

What a day! That's awesome. Congrats!

Man that is one awesome haul....u just tell me when to vote banner cause I don't have a clue what your bar is set at...Awesome !!

Wow, what a haul!! I'm surprised there wasn't a bit of Roman Silver in there for you, with that many bronzes recovered in one day!

Wow ! I too am surprised that you didn't grab a Roman silver considering the massive number of bronzes . Nice on the cut silver !

Looks like a great day Cru. What is the round thing at the bottom of pic. #2? Looks like a pad off of a steel trap? Good luck.

Wow..78 Roman bronze coins in a single day is truly amazing. How much did you have to pay the worker to plough that deep? All kidding aside, that's a very, very impressive haul. Well done.

wow, I sure would like to dig some of that stuff

It's a medium-large settlement, many coins concentrated where they lived.

Thats the disc brooch with missing pin. Its the back as the front is missing.

Now that's an impressive days haul to bring home, congrats on the totals. Was there hole fillers in the albums or just common already found bronzes? The off set planchet one is pretty nice.
I'd be thinking a little :occasion14:to the farm hand for going that extra few inches helped out a tad. Imagine if he did a deep one right to the mineral soil.

I love it all.
