Got out to a couple of fields I got permission for yesterday. I'm still lining up a whole bunch of sites for this fall and these happened to be cut already. Both sites were gone before 1880. The first field was cut oats and I was hoping for a good site. I found the site a little off from the corner and seen plenty of brick and pottery. I was swinging away for about an hour before I got the nice floral button from the 1820s. I was getting fed up with this site due to the extreme amount of iron and scrap aluminum (A house was built over the old one). I ended up finding a toasted 1864 Indian and a cool Arabian Nights token before I left. While in the field I got a call saying I had permission to hit the field across the street....

This site was a very productive one. I started right off that bat digging a foil signal that turned out to be once again a 1867 C/N 3-Cent. This is my 5th career 3-center with three of them being of the C/N variety. After that I started hitting Indians and Shield Nickels. All the coins were along a 15 foot wide section down the middle of the site. The dates on the Shield Nickels were 1868 and 1866. The dates on the Indians were 1865x2, 1867, & 187? The find of the field was the Piqua OH Civil war store card. This is the 3rd Store Card this year and is a nice addition to the collection.

The wind was rough on the video, but enjoy

Great old site for sure ! You know when you're finding 3 cent pieces , and shield nickels - that you've got a special site !

Great finds love those fields

Congratulations on a nice assortment of finds. That is a great old site. I hope you find a lot more there in the future.

Never ever ever ever ever dug a 3 cent so you are not allowed to dig anymore till I catch up. :nono:Congrats on a great hunt.:icon_thumleft:

Awesome finds, thanks for sharing. HH

GREAT mix of CW era finds. LOVE the 3 cent. I have wanted to dig one, either CN or silver. Never have dug one, or even seen one dug by any buddies. Just out of curiosity, what did the CN 3c read? In the foil range?

Thanks Buck. Yes it came in as a 12-01 which on the explorer 01 is the lowest. Eventually you will get that coil over one!

Looks like it was a great day !!!
