I had a decent hunt last night but it was slow going. I think my newest permission where I found the 1812 belt plate is drying up big time and I?m going to give the place a good break for awhile. The best of the hunt was a Victorian steamship company dome button that says P&S SS CO above a anchor, a old cuff link and a unknown object that has a engraving with a name C. J. Macdonald. I?m not sure the age or what it is but it was found very close to the belt plate so could be of a similar age. It would?ve been nice to have a military rank before the name. Thanks for looking! Nice!!! Congrats!!! Is that a cap dart?

such cool finds! wtg

I had the same cap dart as a kid!!!!

That name plate is very interesting. When I get home later, I can try the name out in Ancestry if you want (if you don?t have). Send me a PM to narrow the area of NS down a little though. Township would be helpful.

It sure looks like you had an amazing hunt on a site that's 'drying up' Kevin.

I'm definitely intrigued by this name plate, I wonder why it's so black, maybe it was in a fire or due to soil related conditions? The name looks to be C.J. Macdonald.
The period script is similar to a nameplate that's mounted on a military chest I inherited 30 years ago which dates from c1800.

Thanks. It?s very possible. I?m sure some chests could?ve had rounded parts. The name plate has a bow to it! [emoji16][emoji106]

PMd you. I didn?t find much unfortunately. For those that don?t know, sometimes your local library will have an Ancestry account. I can access it through my local using a library card.

Wonder what the 1/2 on the back is for? Half size? One of two? [emoji2371]

No idea why all my comas in my reply went to question marks but oh well! [emoji23][emoji106]

Thanks for any help. I was wondering what the 1/2 was on the back also. Unfortunately the Macdonald name was probably so numerous finding anything could be really hard. [emoji106]
