Re: Fenner & Bean

A similar token from 1946 was priced at $16 on e-bay but didn't sell. Latterly, Fenner & Beane became a part of the Merril Lynch outfit.

Re: Fenner & Bean

This is like the most I can find on the Fenner Token

"All three of Merrill's children were wealthy from unbreakable trusts made early in childhood. At their father's request, each willingly renounced (in exchange for a token $100) any additional inheritance. Thus Merrill's estate became an engine of philanthropy, supporting the Merrill Science Center at Amherst College and Merrill College at the University of California, Santa Cruz, built in 1968."

Re: Fenner & Bean

Pre- WWII advertising token.

... Fenner & Beane, a New Orleans company that was the nation's largest commodities house and the second-largest "wire house" (an investment firm that, like E. A. Pierce, depended on its private telegraph wires for a broad-based business)...

Back then, New Orleans and New York were the most active ports in the US. Private, direct communications would have been a very important service to provide.

Fenner & Beane were absorbed by Merrill Lynch in 1941.
