Fellow TNetter shares his great spot, SLQ, Gold ring Mercs LC,silver rings, & Rosie

I PMed DukeDavis about his secret spot, I don't want to get into details. I met him after a long drive up to New England, very nice young man. We hunted together for about 3 hours. Here are his finds.

Here are mine

Thank you Duke, I'm glad you came out and showed me how to find that stuff, you really know how to listen to your machine. I hope you have time tomorrow to hunt again. I'll get some better pix later tonight, 1946 Rosie, 1935 Merc, for me, still trying to figure out what that LC is. I think there is a date there. I think its one of three? KG, New Jersey Copper, or maybe a Connecticut Copper? I'm hungry and tired.

Wonderful that friends can still be made! Sharing a wonderful spot is just something people don't do in this "me first" age.

Kudos to Duke!

But, I sometimes think about just how much "treasure" I pass over and by getting to places.

Ever hear about the 2 fisherman that got up at the crack of dawn, launched their boats. One went 50 miles due east and the other went 50 miles due west. Arriving at their absolute favorite fishin' holes and started casting, off each others' dock.
;)

I hear ya, I rolled this trip like the last into something besides just metal detecting. There are treasures in my back yard

Yep, that's exactly the point. Being able to make friends is the most important treasure we can find.

As far as treasures to be found close to home, I have a tiny little school yard I'll go back to forever! Ya see, it's been nice to me and since it can NEVER be hunted out. I have a place for life! ;)

New england? Sheesh how far did u drive?

Awesome finds by the way

Wow guys..awesome hunt!! Glad to see some members getting together to pool their talent, time and sites. Great looking finds, I absolutely LOVE hunting with a good friend..first you get to holler out the numbers on the target..and then the excitement builds as you pull a really neat goodie out of the dirt..and then you get to share the fun/find with your partner...I have taken a friend to a site that I had gained permission to hunt at, (more than once) and of course, the other guy pulls silver first... but..I may have never made that find and was just as happy as him. On the other hand, I have gone to several places with friends on THEIR sites, and pulled silver, relics, etc..so it all evens out. Like I've said before...IT'S ALL ALL ABOUT THE HUNT...and if you find something nice...that's cool too. Cool post..ddf

very nice finds! That was very kind and generous for this fellow member to share such a great site!

Great that you met another Tnet'er Brad. Pretty cool finds but I just don't see any details on the big copper. Bummer! The last ring's details remind me of ones on a flat button I found.

You should see what I'm going to hunt tomorrow. I'll send you some pix tomorrow. I cannot wait to zap that ring to clean it up. Those coppers are tough, I'll put it in oil with the rest of the UFOs

I agree with the comments about sharing sites. As a matter of fact I will be meeting up with a member tomorrow. We plan on heading to supper sweet late 1800's early 1900's picnic site. Should be interesting. Yes personally I don't mind sharing a good site know and then as long as the invited does not go behind ones back and clean out the site. Not saying any Tnet members would do that. That should just be a general rule when sharing sites unless the one who is sharing says it ok to go ahead on you own if you want, like I have done with some other spots. I have heard horror stories of people sneaking behind ones back, tearing up sites they were invited to in the past by fellow hunters. That would be my worst fear when inviting others to good sites. Not that the invited would make good finds but sneaking behind your back and going every other day and cleaning the place out. Well that's my 2 cents.

Awesome awesome awesome. Glad to hear and much respect to "duke". Good luck everyone on their future hunts. I love this hobby and hope the best for everyone.

That is a legitimate fear, I have heard of story's like that. Personally, I find it hard to believe someone would be that sneaky, but I have met a few winners in my lifetime. Another fear is how others that you let hunt your permissions leave the sites condition. Leaving trash, above or below the ground, bad holes/not tidy and leaving trash in a parking area. Being in such a hurry to make finds, that your too lazy to take trash with you, could ruin a permission.
Yesterday, the best part was when "Duke" found his things, especially the gold ring, fist pumping and high fiveing. Better yet was when he told me, "this is great, I really needed this" I'm staying about an hour from that site with some relatives, today I'm taking there two young boys detecting. We were looking around here, I'm going to try and get permission on a couple old residences and hopefully "Duke" can come over here and help out.

Looks like you two had a good hunt! Congrats on your finds! Hopefully the LC will have more detail after a good soak.
The Buffalo nickel has some nice detail!
You never know what will turn up at a new spot could be a banner find!

Thanks ,I dig it.

I'm going out in a little bit to knock on doors. Dukes schedule is not good for him, so I'm going to drive the hour tomorrow morning and hunt with him over there. I bet he'll find that banner find,I hope he does.

I don't have to worry about the sites others take me to, they've all been public and completely hunted out before I got there. They just wanted to see what the great WHADIFIND might be able to turn up in their sites reserved for visiting dignitary hunters. (;) )

(BOY!!! Am I ever gonna catch it for that one!!!! :icon_jokercolor: ) LOL
