very smooth, not round but has a shape

Definately take it to a jeweler. Looks like it might be diamond. If so, it is very old, as it has an overall rounded shape instead of the pyramidal shape it should have.

Was it found at a beach? looks to be glass thats been smoothed by tumbling in the sand. Just my Guess, Hope I'm wrong for you..
