I haven't been able to get out much just recently, but the farmer plowed my fave field last Monday, so I managed to get out for 1.5 hours this afternoon. The soil was very crumbly and the signals were very mixed, but the field delivered the goods as usual :icon_thumleft:. Also when I took Benson for a walk later on I saw that he had plowed 2 more big fields, trouble is I really don't have the time to detect very much at the moment so I may have to leave them till next year, we'll see.

1.jpg
The scrappy bits and a few eyeball finds

2.jpg
A few more interesting bits including spindle whorls, buttons and buckles

3.jpg
Getting better. A jetton, 1906 5 Centimes, small Roman, A Victorian "Royal Sappers and Miners" button and finally a strange buckle, it's broken as you can see and the 2 parts were about a meter apart

4.jpg
A Saxon pin head Circa 8th-9th century and an Elizabeth 1st Half groat 1582ish

5.jpg
Finally, another live .45 round and a 20mm explosive tipped bullet :help:

Thanks for looking and happy hunting

Nice pin mate..and a hammered to boot :icon_thumleft:

Those bullets look dangerous :o

Any Saxon is a great find, the hammered a bonus :icon_thumright:

Ian, I vote BANNER on that ring in the first pic!!!!!!!!!!!!! :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:NICE finds mate! God Bless HH Chris

Great finds as always. Your "buckle" is actually an Isaac & Campbell knapsack hook.....................some of which were imported to the U.S. and used by the Confederate Army in the American Civil War

Looks like there were plenty of targets to dig with a Saxon piece and a hammered thrown in to make your day :hello2: Gotta like it  M.R.

You kept me in suspense til pic 5 :hello:
Beautiful old Finds!
You lived up to your Screenname :hello2:
I'm still looking for my first groat :laughing7:
Congrats & HH

Good result for 1.5 hours! Like the pin most! :icon_thumleft: Too bad the buckle is broken, but You have both parts. :laughing7:
Be careful with the 20mm bullet. Did not look german with the brass fuze but not sure. The german ones are very unstable! Stay away from them...

The Pin is a very good find :o ...... I hope I can get out before year end.
Greetings!

Beautiful finds for only a 1.5hr hunt Ian! :o :icon_thumright:

These two relics are my favourites . . . too bad about the twist in the buckle eh! :'(
Though it kinda looks like a petrified pretzel now! :laughing7:

Thanks Chris :icon_thumleft:
Detecting on arable fields all the time, ring pulls are quite rare for me and normally found at the edges never the middle.
