This time of the year when the temps start to rise and the soil starts to dry, I head for the water. Sadly, my Excalibur has taken it's turn on the "Minelab Breakdown Schedule" I have been using this unit since the summer of 2014. It has paid for itself in just clad alone. I'm going to pull my gold finds together and cash them in.
So I headed out with my DEUS to do a little dirt digging. I picked a park that has some really nice gently sloping shaded hills that overlook the main lawn. This park has over 400 acres of soil that I know have been travelled over since the colonial days. I have friends who have pulled some Spanish silver, large cents, and quite a few Indians out of this soil. I was hoping to add to my "100 Silver Coin Goal for 2016." I'm stuck at 45.
In the afternoon, as I was pulling some clad from one of the smaller lawns, I was approached by Angelo. He had a little dilemma. His wife had removed her wedding rings to sanitize her hands. They left the park without her putting them back on. Well, here he was trying to locate her rings in the general vicinity of where they had been sitting. Angelo is a Tourist from Italy and he had to be at the airport in an hour to begin his pre-flight screening. He asked if I would help him look for his wife's rings. It took less than five minutes to find both rings. What a lucky guy our friend Angelo is. He is returning to Italy, one happy camper.
My day ended with a total of 73 coins which included 5 wheat pennies, ( 10, 16, 25, 40, & 41).
