He said he couldn't resist, he needed to find out if I had found anything.
I told him about all the stuff I found and showed him what was in my pouch. I had not found the quarter as yet. We stood and talked for about an hour and he told me to enjoy myself and happy hunting.I had already told him that I was making a nice display box. He never expressed any interest in keeping any of my finds. He liked that I was taking all the trash with me and even questioned me as to what I was doing with it. It was cool to show him my pouch full of headstamps and trash! :-)
Enjoy the pix

Nice keep the owners of the land happy great job [emoji106]

All well and good. But, the countdown has begun. Remember where you heard it first. ;) LOL

Nice!

I'd much rather have a farmer sneak up on me than some wild pigs or the farmers bull. Unless of course the farmer was holding rope duct tape and smiling really big

Those are some nice digs

I'd keep pounding that field

Darn sneaking farmer. Hee-Hee, he was probably raised where there were bears and it was dangerous to make any noise while out walking.
If you have every wondered how some coins get out in the middle of the fields, I have one observation. I was talking to a young farmer while we were standing at the edge of the road which was overlooking a field of several acres of bottom land. While we we talking about some general things the farmer would giggle and laugh once in awhile. I had no idea what was so funny, so I asked him. He said" Look out there, that is my father-in-law on the tractor. The older man would plow about 15-20 feet and the pull out a BIG white bandanna and wave it around and usually wipe off his fore head or neck. We watched the tractor driver for a few minutes as he continued the ritual. Then the fellow I was talking to said, "The bugs are eatin' him up".:D Later, I was thinking every time he pulled the bandanna out of his pocket there was a good chance that a cent, or, dime, or a quarter like you found was being drug out of his pocket and hitting the ground.
I always enjoy your posts Brad. You usually find some kind of goodie to share with us. Many thanks, and Best of Luck on your adventures.

"talked for an hour" *shutter*

I guess it comes with the territory of getting the permission but for me personally, engaging the homeowners for an extended period of time always wears me out. Let me hunt, let me hunt!! Bahah!

Great digs!!!

Looks like a Good outing! LIke the Silver! Your going to need a set of those glasses with the rear view Mirror if you go back.

Don't be a doomslayer!
Thanks

Not at all, just following up on your own thought. ;)

I'm sure he snuck up just so he could ask you if you could hold a class for his relatives. Since they evidently aren't as good as you. ;)

That Pheasant doesn't look like he's having a good day. Nice finds!

Great I also have display boxes for my finds Great post

Nice digs Brad. You pulled some cool pieces. I enjoy talking and being neighborly especially if the property owner is cordial. It helps build trust and can provide first hand and historical knowledge of the site many times.

Thank you, good observation, I have observed this fall/winter that people drop things in fields, around here, mostly shotgun headstamps.

Nice finds congrats
Thanks Art

I wouldn't want to make a habit of it, he seems like a pretty good person, I'm just glad we had a good conversation. Thanks

Thank you

Thanks, I had a permission for a house that is on the historic registry, the only thing the owners wanted was a spoon and copper brooch. This guy expressed a big interest in an ax head he found in one of his fields. I have a few that I know are very old. I found a file in two pieces on his property. These and buttons, buckle pieces, shards of glass pottery, coins will all go in some boxes for him.

He was a wealth of information to his and surrounding area. It will come in handy for another permission down the road. Thanks Loco, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't find a 1877 IHC along with my Capped Silver that is hiding there.

" It puts the lotion on the skin...

Are these latest finds from a new section, or are you going back over areas already done Brad?
