I was able to actually detect a bit. I packed my White’s XLT and sent it to FL in anticipation of a few possible hunts there on vacation so I pulled out my White’s 4900 and poked around our yard in all metal mode...Besides the square nails and some round nails, I found a hook, a heavy iron tine of some sort, and a key! I wish it was warm enough to try electrolysis. I read that has to be done outside. I have my bucket, washing soda, graphite anodes, alligator clips, a car charger, access to videos..now just need warmer weather and the courage to put it all together! This nail is rather odd with the split end. It is about an inch and a half and both ends feel solidly in place.

Nice relic hunt! :occasion14:

Nice to get out. Clearing the iron will free up some non-ferrous targets in time. The old machine is still pulling up some nice relics.

Great job

I think this is a custom

Especially on a farm. People truly had to improvise.

Cheers

Yes, Kurios...I really had to listen...No VDI numbers, no depth, no changes in pitch...:just hums, rattles, And louder rattling...HA! I like finding the old metal too.

Thanks for peeking everyone. WaterScoop, you may be into something. I mean on to something....

Great finds. I'll take digging iron relics over digging clad coins any day.
