I found these two Items recently. The Tool I found today laying outside a recently dug hole. (I hope another hunter didn't find it and toss it.) What it is, I don't know, but it looks to be in fairly good shape and need of cleaning.

This Item resembles a pocket watch but lacks additional features supporting that conclusion. I'm thinking a gauge of some kind. I found this in a vacant lot that I've found items from the 20's & 30's. It has a Star and Quarter moon Logo with the words TRADEMARK inside.

Howdy Dan,

The first item is a fence pliers.

Nice, thank you Surf. I'll clean it up a bit and put it in my collection. I don't plan on building any fences that use wire anytime soon.

Have to agree, fencing or barbed wire pliers, I don't think you can go to any farm where livestock roamed and not have a pair of these around. That other piece of have to lean towards the back of a pocket watch. With the makers mark or logo on the back it just has to be. I collect pocket watches and often see celestial imagery imprinted on watches. Nice finds.

Carried a pair of fence pliers just like your find for many years. Sometimes you need two of those, so I bought another one and gave it to my wife for Christmas. I didn't eat well for several days after that. She had no sense of humor. Agree with bzbadger, the other is a watch back.

Perhaps the watch case back is from the Crescent Watch Case Co.? I can't make out the detail too well, but:

Thank you nhbenz. That is spot on, the logo is a match. It's gonna take some cleaning before I can get a clear picture. No doubt though.

It looks like they used the name after 1904, the time of the last merger. I believe it has a 5 or 6 digit serial #, but I'll have to wait until I get home from work before I can check it out again.

Wow, yet another awesome relic.

The fence pliers appear to be Crescent brand.

Soak those in used motor oil for a good while...they might free up.

Funny how practical gifts to wife's result in bad meals.
