Being as hungry as I am to dig on something (not to mention impatient), I went back to the farm on Sunday morning even though corn is still in the field. The owner and I sat at on the porch for a while and just talked. After visiting for a moment, I started detecting in the front yard. After a couple of hours digging iron and burned scrap metal I hit upon a very short but semi good signal ringing 76, 79, and 81 on the VDI. I could only pick it up using very short and slow swings. After digging through and under roots of various sizes and pulling a couple of broken bricks out of the way down at about 8-10 in I finally pulled a 1904 IH. Oh what sweet reward to feed my craving. After continuing to dig a few more trash items and getting a bit of clad in the same area I hit on another loud strong signal, but it was jumping from 28 to 36 to 44 and even as high as a 67. After digging through rock hard red dirt and down through some rich soil I managed to pull another fairly decent Eagle button at around 10-12 in. I did decide to quit while I was ahead. Thanks for reading and checking this out. Good luck and happy hunting to all.

Excellent finds Sndman
Glad you got that detecting monkey off your back. [at least for a while]
Those old farms sure produce some good finds. HH Merf

Nice finds. You must have the patience of ten men.

Farms have to be one of the toughest to search. I hunted a few in Michigan and just about lost it with the amount of trash in the ground.
Lots of rusted iron, bolts and nuts, baling wire and the like.
