Yesterday when I found the 1787 Connecticut copper, there were other finds. I left out the partial harness and heavy iron pieces, but the smaller finds are pictured here. The bell is cast brass and is stamped on the top with an "old school" # 2; the iron ringer was intact in the soil that filled the bell cavity. The iron nails shown are a sampling of others that were dug. The old patina on the 16 Ga slug and the raised star on the tip points to an early Western Cartridge Company slug shell. The Winchester Repeating Arms .410 Ga head stamp was the smallest find of the day. Thanks for watching.

Thx for the ID, port ewen ace! I'm hoping for more.

Thx Trezurehunter! Brass must be one of the highest conductors we come across. Been fooled by brass rings before, thinking that the 87 meant big silver.

Thx Lee! That was a great hunt. Went out the next day with a buddy who hadn't hunted there before and came away with an old flat button.

Good job looks like you have a great old area to hunt.. !787 copper I would have needed a diaper for that find I'm glad you've been doing so well. Keep it up my friend. I'm still trying to find a post worthy find over here in A2.

Hey Tommy! Guess you're thawed out in Michigan? You're right about the surprise factor, I mean, who expects to dig a 1787 coin?
P.S. traded in my diaper 62 years ago.
