iron huh.jpgiron what.jpg found this near the 1820 site, hoping it could be a trigger guard but seems a little large and a little thick, the less exciting explanation is some part of a wagon or farm gear like a yoke or wooden tool any help would be apreciated
 

It looks not oval enough to be a trigger guard, could be a rein guide I guess.

I think it's a broken trigger guard off an Indian trade musket. Those muskets had over size trigger guards, and were generally iron rather than brass.
