I have looked everywhere I can think of on the net for a place to ID this token. I know nothing of tokens and hope that maybe someone has a guide or something for these. I don't think this one is very old because it has skyscrapers in the background. I know that there electric trolley tokens that were issued starting in the 20's. This is not one of them though ( I wish). That's all I know. Any help would be appreciated.

Will--I think you are right that this is pretty modern. It is not listed in the 1977 Supplement to Atwood's Catalog of transportation tokens - no doubt because the token is newer than 1977. The current Houston transit authority uses a proof-of-payment system and says "do not expect to board the train through turnstiles requiring you to deposit tokens or scan a fare card as you may have experienced in other cities." That tells me that they have discontinued tokens. You could probably contact them at www.ridemetro.org or perhaps somebody has a more recent edition of the Atwood Catalog than I.

Thank you John. Seeing a date for anything is always nice. Found this in the same area as the Merc I posted.

Yup,I got one too! Vintage but still fairly modern, last 25 years or so.You'd have to research when the MTA in Houston stopped using tokens for transit.Nice find.
