Re: fancy small pottery flask

It is from Italy. Its called majolica, probably mid 1800s.

Certessa di Firenza is a Monastary in Florence which made Chartreuse Liquor ,in which it gave these as gifts to pilgrims and guests.

Hello tinpan. I post this copy and paste to EVERYONE. I wish I had more help with the reminders but nobody has volunteered for very long. I try to do it as fast as possible and may have posted it too many times. You had about 5 posts in need of the green check. Believe me I have been doing it for a long time now and I am not picking on you, making an issue out of you or implying that you are slow. I was just trying to bring this to your attention. Most members appreciate me volunteering my time and efforts.

I dont understand the handbag comment. It must be an Australian joke. Could you explain this handbag comment please sir?

Most of us here like to see the green checks so we can easily see what has been solved. If you absolutely dont like the idea then it is your perrogative. All you need to do is say so. No problem and I enjoy your posts 8)

Maybe ill stop with the reminders. Maybe its not worth the aggravation. :-\ In the meantime, Im waiting for your explanation on the handbag comment tinman.

Ok tinpan LOL Thanks for explaining. Sorry. I thought you were namecalling. A handbag in Australia is a purse in the USA.

It was just a friendly reminder, not my opinion. I wasnt telling anybody what to do. It appeared you didnt know how.

I thought about it today and I have decided that I cant prevent one person like you from whining. If I see someone is in need of assistance with the green check, I will continue to try and help them.. I realize I am not a moderator and there is always going to be one or two unhappy members but thats too bad. Put me on ignore. Making an official complaint might also help resolve your so called "issue" tinman.. Most people thank me for trying to help.

ADDED: I will limit the friendly reminders to new members, less likely to make a big "issue" out of nothing.

Amazing! How to hell did it get to Australia! What a small world. Certosa is large monastery located in the town of Galluzzo which is in the suburbs of Florence (Italian - Firenze). My wife and I spent five days there this summer at a Hotel right at the foot of the monastery. It was built in the 1300's and during the Renaissance it was the largest monastery in the Christian world. I has been continuously occupied since then. It is now overseen by the Benedictine monks. It is extremely beautiful and sits on a large hill and is surrounded by olive orchards and grape orchards. They sell the olive oil and wine in a little shop on the grounds - see picture. There is a very nice chapel there - see picture and can be considered an unadvertised jewel in the Tuscany and Florence area.

While kicking around on the grounds I was dying for my metal detector. The hotel we stayed in was fairly new as it was built in the 1700's. I watched workers dig a trench for piping across the grounds and I almost cried. I would move the dirt around with my foot after they were gone - no luck.
