Looking for any more information on this fancy, I believe, cape button that I found. Nicest one I've found. It came out of a site that had a range of item ages as far back as colonial. There are no backmarks and the shank is broken off. It's pretty good sized. I was thinking 1800's and likely a cape button? but I'm terrible with buttons.

Thanks!

Most 18th and 19th C capes closed at the neck with a clasp or hook or chain.

I'm guessing you have a coat button - late 18th to early 19th C. May we see the back, please?

If there is no back mark it was likely made in the mid to late 1700s, most likely the latter of the 18th century.

Here's the reverse. It's pretty smooth, no back marks and a broken shank area. Love this thing. IMG_3508.jpg
