Fake news, of the archaeological variety, may be on the rise. The website World News Daily, for instance, often posts archaeology stories that are 100% bogus, but can easily fool. And often do. Every now and then they'll post things like "Viking ship found on Mississippi River", or something very similar, include photos of Norse relics(but the photos always turn out to be from European digs), and other bogus stories written to convince. Even though that website even has a disclaimer page where they admit it's all fake stories, people still fall for it. It is possible, I would suggest, that fake news of the archaeological edition may be showing up as threads created on artifact forums. I don't know if it's happened here yet, but keep your eyes out for digs and finds that seem wildly improbable. It might just be fake news of the archaeological variety.....

Soooo........I shouldn't go hunting for Aztec Treasures up here in the Rocky Mountains? That website said there was plausible evidence that the Aztecs hid in the Rocky Mountains......lol......:laughing7:

World News Daily? Fake stories? Look at the disclaimers for this site. They actually tell you that everything they post is fake. World News Daily is just another poor imitation of The Onion.

Seems like we are getting fake stuff everywhere. What a bunch of fakers. The trouble is even if you have a real artifact. You have a group that says it's nothing . That's just as bad. Everythings can be faked. The fakers do at least have knowledge to make a good one. I see artifacts that appears to be real. In fact they are to a point. Made in the same era but by someone other than what they are displayed as. Some know what I'm talking about. It would ruffle to many feathers if it was truly discovered. The fact is they are rarer for what they are and who made them Than what they are displayed as. Most are very high end pieces. I can't go any further into it. That will come later. Good day!

Many other sites pick up on their stories and publish them themselves, so no one sees any disclaimers. And the stories are written to convince. I was going to post an example of such a story, but the server is down for World News Daily this morn. Also, people just don't look for the disclaimer page when they do run with stories from the site. Anyway, I had another point in mind. Beware of such stories, posted as threads, and appearing highly questionable, right here, lol....

The "Giant" skeletons are another I see quite often and the fact that the Smithsonian is witholding info on them.

They keep all the giant skeletons in the back room with the confiscated alien UFOs and dead bigfoots that have piled up over the years. I've heard it's a nightmare to find anything back there these days. lol
