Made it back to an old late 1800s/early 1900s fairground location in the western part of the state on Saturday. I first hunted this place 30 years ago when I was 10 years old and its been heavily hunted since the early 1970s but it still holds some coins. It is now farm fields. Corn has been harvested but it has not been plowed yet and the corn stalk stuble and other post harvest debris made hunting very hard. Had to put on the X-5 small coil to even attempt to navigate the rows.
The nice type of barber and seated coins I have pulled from this location were hiding on Saturday but I did get 2 Indians (1889 and 1897), 3 V-Nickels (1883 "Cents" variety, 1887 and 1897) and a Buffalo (cant tell date). Unfortunately, 40 plus years of fertilizers usually severely trashes any non-silver coins as is the case with these.
