This year is building for the perfect storm. We are riding our luck this year. Firstly the Roman Bath House field had it's Wheat accidently killed off by the wrong chemicals & now we found over 3 acres of destroyed oilseed rape. That just happened to be right over the Roman area of the field!
I'm starting to like pigeons more than I used to...lol
We spent 2 days, Friday 6 hours & today 5.5 hours covering the eaten area.
It wasn't a massive success, as it needs a deep plough & as you can see, only the very small Roman Coins are left. But in the back of our minds we were hoping for a Sceat, because it's one of the best options we had for these coins. Wasn't to be.:cross:
At least we know when they deep plough, nothing will be turned in & we will be able to tell what came up.

19 Roman Coins (Friday)
21 Roman Coins (Today)

Top of an oil lamp, came out of ditch clearing
Roman Hair Pin Frag
Broken Tudor Clothes Fastener
1855 French 10 Centimes
1836 Shilling 8-)
Bits....

Congratualtions on the very productive hunt! I love all the old coins! :occasion14:

Thanks all.

It was a beautiful spring day & I saw my first butterfly (Peacock) today! Mega early!

Cru, you always knock it out of the park with your finds. You never seem to amaze me. I just wish I knew a little more about the things you dig.

You cleared everything now with the tiny coins now. This will give an idea how much a deep plow is worth. :icon_thumleft:

You can learn, I now know lots about your US finds, that I had no clue of, that's the beauty of Tnet.

Nice one Cru, see what you mean about the pigeons. There's a field where I walk the dog, the pigeons are all over the rape.

You should have your own TV show crusader. Amazing finds

Nice digs Cru. Many times when you post scrappies there is no object for scaling. I never realized how small those scrappies could be. Nice shilling too, I'm waiting for one of those!

Steve

Coin pictured added to top. Had 2 Album coins, one we haven't had before.

Awesome finds as always! Those coins sure are tiny. I hope your luck continues with access to sites, Keep it up!
