This is the time of year we think outside the box & try risky or unsearched/not researched areas. Dad had spotted some failed Winter Wheat, which is a crop that never really fails in our area. It was a field with not much hope, as we had done a couple of short scouts without joy. On the plus side it was next to a field with a Roman Site & it had a Roman Road down 1 edge.
To our surprise, there was more failed area than it seemed & we did much better than expected:

7 Scrappies
Roman Fibula
Broken Roman Locking Pin
Roman Acorn Weight8-)
Lead Token
Henry VIII Halfgroat (Hammered)
Silver Top Button
19th C Great Central Railway (GCR) Button (first for me & quite scarce I think)
Broken Glass Seal (another first)
Medieval Sword Pommel - good find:thumbsup:
Medieval Coin Weight
4 Tudor Leather Decorations
Tudor Knife Terminal
Bits...

Better than expected is always a good feeling.
Henry VIII silver,,,what can you say, pretty cool.

great stuff as always. love your roman finds

Crusader, there is a obvious reason why you have the most "Banners" on Tnet! Every hunt of yours is beyond stellar!

Is the end of a seal top spoon? Have you ever found a whole one?

Nice hunt...wish we had failed crop fields like that here !!!!

That is a great bunch of finds....like the silver !!!!

Boy, I wish I had a back burner site like that! Just curious, approximately how many silver coins have you dug up over the years?

Sorry I missed this question, Dad pointed that out. If you mean Hammered Silver (not including Roman/Celtic/Modern) then it's about 550.
