Me and my son found this button the other day. No back on button and it appears to have an "A" or something similar on it, stars around the edge and some type of writting that I have not been able to make out. Anyone ID this? Thanks.
"A" should represent Artillery. With the stars being around it that is odd, dont recall seeing one with stars around the edge like that. TheCannnonBall guy may be able to ID this for you correctly. If i had my big button book with me I would look it up but i am on holiday right now and it is @ the house. Kewl find it appears this button is 19th century.
Edit: all are the same button which appears to be a Mass Vol Milita button. The button in the center is the same button and is not "A"
Oh okay those are the same buttons. They look different in the two photos on the right all I can make out on the photo in the center is a A. The first one looks like a Mass Vol Milita Button the one in the center photo all I Can make out is a "A" you can use ammonia that is got soap mixed in with it which you can buy at most hardware stores and brush this button clean.
