Can anyone with experience with both the F75 and F70 comment on the $350 price difference? I'm sure this topic has come up before but after a little time I figure more guys have experience with both machines and can give a good comparison. The F75 coil might cost a bit more than the F70, but where is the extra money going? For the typical coin shooters, is it better to buy the F70 and have money left over for coil options? Can anyone comment on the things that are a lot better with the F75 vs F70 (other than the coils)?
Is an F75 with only one 11DD coil a better choice than having the F70 with both the 10 and 11 coils? Thanks, gleaner

If you look at this non-commercial site www.fisherf75.com perhaps Andy's notes will help you decide.

I can only comment on the F70. I bought mine used for less than the new F5 price. I think my only real complaint is it doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between nickels & new tabs in my mineralized ground.

I decided the F70 was about right for my brain. There's some more modes & settings on the F75 that I thought might be more than I could stand to learn. But I about always feel totally stressed out, it might not be a problem for most, especially with the tips on Andy's site & the main Fisher forums.

I guess the F70 has the same separation abilities & recovery speed as the F75 when the F70 is in DE(fault) mode, but not quite as deep. I think the SL mode has the same depth as the F75, but not quite as good separation/recovery. I don't know how much it matters to one person vs another. I did also get the mini-coil 3 3/8" x 6 1/2" concentric, also bought used.

The F70 in my air tests indoors, with electrical interference, could beep on a quarter about as loud at 10" as at one inch, in SL disc. In all metal SL, a quarter would ID correctly at 11", with a softer sound. This with the stock coil. Even the little coil could properly ID a Franklin 1/2 at 10 inches in SL all metal.

The depth reading on the F70 goes to 16" and have heard of coins found down to 13" or 14" with it. In my bad soil, I got a copper cent at over 5" & was near powerlines, too. This was in DE disc. The deepest I've found a coin since I started in 1976 is 7".

These detectors appeal to me because of weight & features. It seems like going any deeper would require a heavier detector, &/or one with less features or so many features I would have trouble learning what they are all for, let alone the best settings for each in every environment. I know I hate long menu selections, this is fairly quick to adjust. HH, George (MN)

I like the F75 more - but not $350 more. I own and use both. I bought my F75 slightly used for under $600 and my F70 was a demo for less than $500. If buying new, I would get the F70. If you consider used - go F75 all the way. Find a used F75 b/c you should be able to get one without a scratch for less than $600 or so.

By the way - George's comments were exactly right and spot on as for a performance comparison.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am happy with the depth and recovery speed of the 70 and 75. I'm really thinking Fisher again for my next machine but I'm so used to the CZ20 where you could switch from auto-tune to the other scrim settings with a twist of a knob, it seemed so quick and easy. Can you say anything about how easy it is to switch back and forth between auto-tune mode and your favorite scrim mode? I have been reading the manuals but its hard to figure out I just need plain English on this.

Its simple to switch from auto tune to disc mode, a couple of quick button clicks and your back and forth.
