Hi folks, I have a olde f75 I bought used. It has given me a lot of good service and appears to be working as I am finding stuff. I keep the detector in the house when not in use. We had a week of rain and it didnt get used. When I got it outside, I noticed moisture in the box and I let it set in the truck with the windows up for a bit to dry it out. Now I have discoloration on the screen. So today I am hunting with a friend who has a T2. My propointer sets off his detector from 10" feet away. But my propointer only sets my detector off at a few feet. Does that mean the T2 is more sensitive than the F75? We both were on all metal at full sensitivity. Now I did do a frequency shift from factory due to emi. But that is the only difference.

Now I called el paso and it appears to be out of warranty. I was contacted by Rick Padillo who is local and he was glad to help out. The repaired detector is on its way home now. You can bet I will be taking a lot better care now. The F75 is tough, but just had enough. I also didnt use dust covers and that could have saved me from a repair. Im considering a padded bag also.

I considered a new detector, but I wanted a F75, my F75. Its my baby and I spend more than just a few hours hunting each week. Now the cool weather has returned, I will be out often. I didnt realize how attached I was to my F75 till it didnt work anymore. My backup didnt cut it. I felt bad I had somehow destroyed my detector. Now it still was working, but not at its best. I really have dug coins at 16 inches as the manual states. Not that I want to dig coins at 16 inches all day, but it is very sensitive. It finds coil and pieces of Jewelry that even my Propointer wont pick up.

I cant wait to get back out there swinging.

Sorry to hear about your F-75
as for the pinpointer i have a pro-pointer and i`t does not set off me Omega but...it sets off my buddy`s old Teroso Toltec II 1994 from 6' away and that is not as sen.as my Omega.
As for loosing confidence ....just look for deeper targets anything just to see how deep it is,,,compair with your buddy with the T2 as how deep.....but the moisture would realy bother me too.

Thanks Gary, I got really mad about it not working. I normally dig coins at 10 inches and that stopped. The T2 is deep on relics, the F75 owns the coins in the park. Two different machines, both very good at what they do. The T2 will really clean up on the gold rings. I can mimic its settings somewhat if I choose too hunt that way. My favorite signal is that little wisp like a bee flying by. I dont always get a number on my vdi on some of the deep stuff also. Those are the targets I love. Those are the really deep targets. I dont know if its the operator or the machine. But I can get more depth than my buddy on the T2. Not much, but he gets more gold than me. I know which one I would rather have lol.

The moisture in the box may have been there when I bought the F75. It was bought used. I have made a mental list of never to buy used again. I hunt with the best stuff I can afford. If you are gonna spend the time, You should spend a little more dime on your equipment. This being my second detector, I did not put dust covers on it. I live in a desert, and didnt feel the need. You can bet it will have covers on it now.

I was given some advice about storing the detector when not in use. Nore more using the pickup as a place to store my detector. I am very picky about my stuff. I want it to work when I turn it on. I carry this stuff sometimes miles, and for it not to work was a waste of time and effort. I could have carried something else. Lesson learned, buy new and buy American.
