f70

Depends on how deep you want to dig those coins Bob!

Starting out you might want to try the factory default settings. These won't give you amazing depth, but it will put you in the coin shooting mode and you'll be able to readily distinguish most coins from most trash fairly quickly.

Also Sandman has posted a video on popping those coins out with a screwdriver instead of cutting holes in the ground, minimizing any problems with potential damage to the turf. Check it out!

But do practice pinpointing, very very much practice. You want to know exactly where that target is from 3-4" above it and exactly on the spot. The F70 has excellent pinpointing characteristics.

As I often advise, tape/glue targets to some cardboard with some separation between them of course.
Turn the cardboard over and swing over it from several different angles. Use the pinpoint function to isolate each target and pop a hole through the cardboard to see if you hit what you're looking for.

After a few weeks or so you can start messing with the settings, one at a time. on targets you have a high confidence in. Say you really think it's a quarter because your experience with this target id does indicate that probability. Now go back and change any of the settings you want in any number of ways to see how the machine's interpretation of the target is affected.

This will not apply too much for shallow, flat, easy targets. But when your ready to move to more deep targets that are in a more complex situation, say, very near trash or other variables it will really help.
