In the opinion of you experienced Fisher users, how much better is the F5 compared to the F4. I'm kind of set on getting a F4, which is at my budget limit, but if the F5 is that much better for another 100.00, maybe I should wait until I can afford the F5.

The F4 is a capable machine.........but the F5 is awesome! Its has a VERY good interface...............is deep.....stable...and has great ID's.
If you typically hunt for coins...........its one of the best. If it were me I'd save a bit more and get the F5. You may even be able to find a nice clean used one for less than the new F4! No....................mine is NOT for sale! :laughing7:
Good luck with your choice......................... Streak!

I agree 100% with Streak, I just got my second F5....and its a great machine, very tunable, pretty light, easy to read screen, all controls just where you need them.....I vote for you to save up the extra $100 and go F5.....got mine from Ron at windy city detectors in Chicage...worth a call to him...lots of REALLY useable extras ...very fast service....Thats my 2 cents , for what its worth....Steve in Estill Springs, Tn.

Ditto on the F5, good depth runs stable even on dry and wet salt beaches. Easy to use interface. Got great price on mine, used in ex cond, ck with Richard at Backwoods detectors, I think he has another one avail.

F-5 and yes Ron is the go to. Call him!

If Ron can't help you give me a email/call. I can make some good deals!

I did allot of research before I bought my F5 last spring. I was on the ACE 250 and the F4.
The F5 is a machine I have never regretted buying! The manual ground balance is a must have for highly mineralized soils, which makes it a good low end prospecting tool.
The gain, threshold and discrim are awesome, you can tweak it just how you want it.
I have heard other folks say that it's a hard machine to learn, Well I beg to differ!!!
Whoever is reading this has a world of info at there finger tips on the forums about how to set up and use it.
$500 is allot of money for me. But I don't think I could have found a better detector at that price :icon_thumleft:
