I just finished compiling a Target ID chart using my F-75. I tested every U.S. pattern coin I own and some (clad, unfortunately) is verified with field digging. VERY happy with how the F-75 catches dimes and nickels. The red bar is how I have set my discrimination and notch. I've been using delta pitch, bottle cap mode and the sensitivity varies in the range of 30 to 50. I ground balance and then hold the coil motionless about 1" off the ground and up the sensitivity until I begin to get the false "pips" of interference.

The coins keep to +/- 1 on the TID when swept which, when combined with the Confidence bars, helps pre-screen the trash. Foil and bottlecaps hop all over, as do cans and can slaw, while tabs will change TID values on different legs of the "X" when pinpointing. The exception is flat, modern tabs. They read solid "60" for me (mimicing a post'82 Memorial cent).

Very nice POST. Should prove useful to someone.

Nice Chart Charlie P. Would a silver dime hit 71 or 72.

on 2nd thoughts I think I see where it will hit 70 am I right?

70 At least in my test. Haven't hit one "in the wild" yet. Depending on soil and depth it might hit 68 to 72, but should be consistant within one or two digits as you sweep from various directions.

You are correct. In the "wild", NY state, dry clay, stone gravel below some top soil (2-3 inches) @ 8-10 inches dug 9 of them and they all hit in that area with a nice clear response. GB 83, JE, disc 65, Sens 80, 3H

Nice post ...Thanks...Be nice to see what would some of the old bronze coins from the far east mark..May have to get one and see. :)

Thanks for this, I am getting my F75 tomorrow and just ptinted this out. I've used a T2 for over a year and it's time to move up a notch... heh...

Thanks!

Julien

Yes, that IS a nice chart.
I hope someone comes out with a chart for the F4 and the F2.
What is the learning curve for the F75. Does it come with an instructional DVD?

Robert R

No DVD. Apparantly it has a steep curve as I see a lot of disgruntled posts. I like mine for certain. I also buried a bunch of items in a test garden and practiced quite a bit. It is a good detector in that it's easy to get started but can be finessed for better performance.

glad to see you back square chuck 8)

Wild times with a corporate buy out, new bosses, new duties, etc. Hope to get back into the swing. ;)

And I had to sign new employee documents that I agree not to do personal stuff on the PC, so I had to abide by that at least for a little while. ;D

Had my left knee refurbished in September so I missed the tail end of unfrozen soil hereabouts. But I just ordered a Sunray FX-1 probe to lash to my F-75 so I'm ready for the melt!

Good to be back.

Hi Charlie,

I used your chart to help get me started with the F75. Today I took it out back with a bunch of modern and old silver coins and have some additions to your chart.

However, I'm writing about something that disturbed me a little. My bride loaned me an 18k earring and necklace to get readings on. I found that the earring came in as foil and the necklace DID NOT give a target signal. I even ran over it with my PI and found it didn't signal on the necklace. Have you ever seen that before?

If the thin gold can come in a foil, so much for descriminating.

Jack

Hey jack did you try the JE mode, Please give it a shot and report back..
Charlie your chart is nice and will be helpfull for a guideline...I asume this is done on top of the ground..thanks james

That was in je mode. I switched to de during the dry test and it did no better.

I'm going to try some different styles of necklaces next time.

Jack

wouldnt these readouts be somewhat similar throughout the fisher model range??
i ask cuz i have a f2 on the way

Thanks I will put it to use. Reid
