Metal Detecting
Been busy with work but took a 10 minute walk along the shoreline waiting for a lobster boat to come in and found a few coins and a medal along the way. There were other relics but i only pocketed the small stuff. I found my first Canadian silver dollar. I hate calling this one that because this one is a 1969 and is one of the later date coins that no longer had any silver content. All pre 1968 dollars were silver. Looks like I may have to try my detector along that beach sometime. At least I can finally say I found a Canadian dollar coin. Besides modern loonie dollars that is. Thanks for looking! With that kind of eyeball finds, you know the good stuff is just waiting to be sniffed out with the detector. So close with the dollar too but still, they didnโ€™t strike huge numbers of these and people didnโ€™t tend to carry them around so not a common find. I remember playing with them in the house as a kid but understood even then that they werenโ€™t typical pocket change. Well done.

I like doing the walk and look thing first......I'm always surprised at the teed up stuff just sitting on top. It's a good sign, and I'm usually jogging back to the truck to get the detector out. Congrats hope its warming up for ya.

Wondering about that medal.... ??

Itโ€™s warming up to much. Iโ€™m use to the cold and sweating my a$$ off lifting all those lobster crates! HaHa

When I cleaned it up at home half the brown flaked off and the rest stayed on. Looks like some type of white cheaper mixed metal but still a cool eyeball find I think! [emoji16]

It is in rough shape but Iโ€™m happy with it. The pictures make it look worse. In hand moving it around you can make out the details a lot better. The ocean can do strange thing to them coins sometimes. Iโ€™m not a fan off the sand for looking for stuff. I know every shoreline situation is different but generally I go more to the high small rocky areas that dont get super wave action and look for pottery, glass or metal pieces. Places like that you know something dropped years ago is pretty much in the same spot. Once I know there was activity I slow right down and look for the goodies amongst the crap! [emoji16]

Same strategy for me in the keys and Bahamas. 20190323_233920.jpg when the ground is cluttered with stuff like this I slow down.

Good eye I find lots of stuff to I'm always looking well done
