Oh, sorry. Guess that would help, huh? Made of iron near as I can tell. Like I said, about 25 yards from the old house seat, on the creek bank.

Seeing that you said it was a "homestead" near a "creek" I would assume it is a more rural location, like a small farm.
Are there any out building structures or evidence of any agricultural activity?

To me it appears to be a broken off foot pedal of some kind of farm implement.
It looks sturdy and the deep groves would wipe mud from the soles of boots to
give secure pressure. That's my guess.

Yes, it is a rural area. The house was dated 1780. It was stamped into one of the logs used to build it. Had his, his wife's name and all of their kid's names. There was a barn there as well but it wasn't built until the early 1900's. It's all on my bro-in-laws farm. We are planning a camp-out for next weekend to detect and do some ghost hunting too. lol There was a workshop also. other than that. not much. Makes sense what your saying too. Thx for thought.
