Hello, I am interested in trying to remove some intact fossils from within this massive clump of limestone.
There must be some really cool fossils in this.
It is 9 inches long, 5 wide and 4 inches thick.

I appreciate any and all tips or whatever.

Put it in a bucket with some vinegar. Doesn't cost much, kinda stinks, but it works.

Can also use an air scribe or an air chisel.

When i get fossils with barnacles on them, I will do a 50/50 mix of distilled water and vinegar. Soak the fossil for a day and then start cleaning (look at my post with the mastodon tooth). If it is hard matrix, then i will break out the Air scribe or Air chisel and go to town

Toilet bowl cleaner works faster as well, although you need to wear rubber/latex gloves while placing them in and taking them out. Rinse thoroughly with water and place in a water and baking soda to neutralize the hydrochloric acid in the bowl cleaner. I use either a rotary tool or an engraver to slowly carve away the layers of matrix.

Air chisel.. Ugh another, please honey item. Lol
Thank you for the replies.

This is one good thing about being single. I got my microscope, air scribe, air chisel, Minelab eTrac, Excal II, and a few other goodies but every good thing comes to an end.........I am now engaged boys but at least she doesn't mind my hobbies....yet haha!
