For anyone who lives near or making a trip this way in September and October this is a great opportunity for a hands-on archeology experience. Mentioned in the article, David Moore, is who looks at my finds and tells me about them. This dig is on the other side of the county I live in and has made national news several times for the discoveries there.

Thanks for the info. Been following this site for a number of years. I thought it might be David Moore that you might have been talking to for a while.
 

I offered to volunteer at Warren Wilson for their dig and they said I had to pay them $400. This was about ten years ago, but I never went back as it left me with a sour taste. I was an archaeologist for 7 years all over the southeast and northwest prior to that.

I don't understand the volunteer but paying them either. It's kind of weird huh? You would think they could get some kind of funding since they're tied in with the colleges.
