explorer and xlt

On wet sand the Minelab will kill your XLT. I still have mine but single frequency and wet salt just don't mix.
On dry sand the Explorer has the edge on depth even if you boost all aspects of the Whites as high as you can. The XLT is quicker in use as you know so you loose a few inches in depth but could cover the whole top strip of the beach whilst the Explorer user is maintaining his "slow and low" sweep.
Stick a Bigfoot on with its 18" sweep and you can clean up on that days lost coins.

On land its much the same but on my ground there's a brick wall at 8 inches with the Whites stock coil unless you open the discrimination right up. Target masks to much due to its concentric coil design. You don't have to dig iron if you don't want to and you can have deep/small targets blowing your head off so no missing whispers so excellent for checking out new land and finding the hot spots. But I would then swap to a Minelab/Nautilus or similar deep seeker to take out the deep stuff.

I would keep the XLT until you see if you get on with the Explorer as there is the balance problem and some can't live with the tones. Also consider the Explorer II as its a better, more sorted machine.

i have to agree i have an xlt and an explorer se, the xlt is faster if you dont want the depth, but the minelab is much deeper.
