I have a CZ20 & and it has been the most amazing machine I have laid my hands on for the water - when it picks out a small "thin" gold star from a ladies hoop ring the size slightly larger than a pencil lead the unit rocks .... But it does not perform well on beach sand. I can find some items but there is a lot of sweat going into the process.

SOOO ... I now have a EX 11 for that task. I have had it out for the last several months and have become quite accustomed to it - very nice machine & I plan to push it just like the CZ20.

I have a 12.5 Sunray coil on the unit & an X1 probe to expedite the recovery process. I have looked @ several sites for beach programs for the EX 11 ... and the information conflicts @ times. I know that settings vary to site, trash & conditions but I am looking for guidance. I live in Ontario (CANADA) and do not have a salt beach to hone my skills on and my trips south are limited.

Is it possible for some of you to guide me to some links or provide me with sound settings for a salt water beach?? The sites I will hunt @ down south will be non-mineralized with the beaver tails, caps, aluminum, nails (can never forget about them - but the CZ20 did find me 1 canon ball ... but since cannon balls are few & far between I do not think I'll search for them and would prefer to discriminate them out), caps, the odd hot rock, etc. ?? If you wish to send me an e mail off site it's ... thebestfatcatabout@hotmail.com

Thank you for your time, help and direction .... it is truly appreciated.

Eriks.

The CZ20 is fine on the dry sand too. Just be sure to GB it and keep the discrimination down where it will bearly tune out a bobby pin and you are set. If you tune out cannon balls, you are going to miss many rings. Even hot rocks can set off a CZ20. That's why I prefer the Minelab Excal 1000 for water or dry sand. I used to play a lot with a Whites Surfmaster PI but got tired of digging nails.

i have tried so many programs that i am over all that mess

just turn it on and go from factory settings, this baby will find everything or u can try IM-5 or so, most like I M-14.............not me

sensitivity with the X12 on the beach...........15...MANUAL.....some like 17 or 18 but it chatters to much for me...........it runs real smooth a.....probe on the beach - uselesst 15.............
sounds: ferrous
audio 1 or 2.............2 seems to lock on the target much better for me

gain...................5

threshold...............i like mine kinda loud, so i can hear it over the waves

deep on
some beach guys use deep and fast on together................manual says (tip) leave both off

what they are trying to tell everyone is to hunt in factory and be happy for life

now i have used a black screen and taken all my rings and programmed them in and used it..................that works great tooo, especially in the peak summer months.

andy's gold program works really really well tooooo...............i accept quarters, dimes and a few really nice silver rings i have and go

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS FOR THE BEACH - DAMP SAND AND WATER ONLY

AND THIS IS JUST MY TWO CENTS WORTH................THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PROGRAMS OUT THERE...................

I USE TO HUNT IN IM-16..........MANY BEACH GUYS DO.................TWO MANY SOUNDS FOR ME......................BUT IT TOOOOO IS A GREAT BEACH PROGRAM.

GOOD LUCK

Thank you for your responses ..... I believe I am becoming adjusted to the site & have done some digging. I did not realize where to search for some programs. So I do thank you for your assistance, input and patience.

I took the CZ20 & EX11 out for a walk yesterday on a shallow small inland Ontario beach.... There will definitely be some adapting on my part to the EX11. I am finally starting to understand the sounds of the EX11 ... dug some foil, tabs, a beer cap, etc although the screen will take adapting to. I heard the sound identified in the various sites of the a gold item ... finally. I found a small female ring - nothing special, @ about 6" deep.

My wife - who dos not detect but comes out @ time had better luck - probably more patience. She found 2 other non valuable rings & some change - not enough for gas .... but a nice warm coffee for her,
with the CZ20.

3 questions

1) EX 11. If I were to use an advance mode tuned to a beach setting .... which AUDIO mode functions best overall. On the weekend I used Audio 2 ... and the discrimination appeared clear. Will I be missing any deep set items in this mode??? or is there another mode which would be better suited for me to learn and adapt to.

2) EX 11. How does the unit respond to Titanium and the newer alloy mixes. As our society changes and more economical rings come into play .. does the EX 11 respond well to them?? Are these some unique coordinates I should notch in to the Advanced screen to take account of these?? Do these sound similar to a gold item??

The CZ20 responded with a very strong signal ... much like a solid gold item ... for a titanium ring I found last summer.

3) EX 11. How do silver rings sound off ... is it a similar unique sound which I will learn to identify?? OR is it similar to a gold??

Thank you once again for your assistance ...

I find that most silver rings sound like quarters and some of them will target id as quarters also. Gold rings sound more like a nickel on the E2.

get u some 1x3's .............6 ot 8 feet long and glue some items on them about 2ft apart and lay them in your yard and play around with it

like islandchips said................gold, pull tabs, alum, nickels sound goooood

quarters and nice silver rings do sound good and kinda high.................if u hunt in IM-16 for a few hours, u will get to know all the sounds....................use ferrous tones as well.

think of it as a P I with tones and it really is.......................

u can not even compare it to the cz20...............they are not even close

i do not know where u work in canada but if u have any wave action, i suggest u plug up the upper end of your lowere rod..................keeps wave action from running up and keeps u from raising it up high not thinking.
also u will need to add a saftey string from your wrist or belt around the hand grip,so it does not accidentally slip into the surf as mine did once.
