Cheat codes indeed. This isn't no Xbox, but various metals will read different numbers depending on the ground, different machines, coils and even sunspots. You can however come close but one number off and you could miss a gold ring for an example.

Hi Stoker, If you look in detector reviews by owners section I have put an article about where you can expect gold rings to be. One thing which will soon become apparent is that they will cover a fairly large area. This is also true of coins, whilst most of the time each individual coin will register in its own particular number. This can vary, soil conditions, mineralisation, and coin depth and orientation in the ground can all effect the numbers shown. The numbers are only an estimation so dont put too much emphassis on them.Generally learning the sounds of your targets is the better way of going, especially for deep targets. good luck hope you find plenty seeya Neilo ;D

Thanks for replying to my question.

The guy who sold me the Explorer told me it is better than a new Xbox!!! Now your telling me that it is not an Xbox, how disappointed I am.

Anyway, we are mixing apples and oranges. I know the master list exists and would have it if my fax had not stoped working. Your points are well made and I am sure you are right about missing items if you are a point off in different soil types. Still, when setting up S2, S3, S4 and so on, you could give the machine a range based on codes if you knew exactly what you wanted to hunt, presuming that you know it's there and just want to find it.

Cheat codes could also help you learn what the numbers represent more quickly.

I'm pretty new to this hobby so may be way off base, but thank you for your kind responses.

The S locations (storage) are filled with discrimination patterns that you "teach" the Ex2. The detector has a "learn" mode where you pass desired (or undesired) targets over your coil to teach the detector what you want or do not want.
