Went out the other day to a local park and was suprised to find this old coin. It is a coin that came with boy scout boots back in the day. There are a couple examples of this coin that I have seen on this site but mine is a little different from those. The coin is from 1916 and is about the size of a half dollar. I think it was nothing but luck that this coin has not been pulled out already.

pretty cool and unique find!

Nice token! :evil5: Maybe it had a signal size very similar to a soda pop can and so it got skipped?

You are right, it did have a signal size close to a pop can so that is a good thought. At first i thought it was just another good luck coin but was pleased to find this one. Most of the ones I have seen have a 1910 date on the front and a swastika on the back. My coin has the horseshoe and ruin symbols on the back. They say some are rare but I am not sure how rare this example is. Thanks for the comment

Thank ya sir, I agree on the unique find. I think we all find good luck coins but every now and then we come across a few that are a little more unique. Thanks for looking

I did hear of " if a scoutmaster had his whole troop in those shoes he would recieve a coin" There were two different coins if I remember that correctly.

Very interesting find

This particular token is fairly common so its value is finding it!
I have more information on that token and a similar one on this page:

http://www.sageventure.com/coins/version5.html

The tabs on the right side of the coin book are links to others versions of the Excelsior tokens.

Hope this helps,
SageVenture

Thanks agian.

Does your token have the good luck and the swastika on the back? I think i found the same token last year in a random yard

Wow The one on the left is different for sure. Sageventure might be interested in that one. His web site above is very informative. Nice finds. Also love the silver.
