Excellant Deus Carry On Bag...for me anyway

Since that super designed MILSPEC bag that Jeremy Vance was offering is no longer available, I've been on a serious hunt for a sufficiently long yet relatively flat carry on bag for the Deus. It had to be sturdy, well made in every regard and naturally accommodate all parts of the Deus to include the ancillary equipment i.e. control box, ear phones, charger and spare parts kit that comes with the machine. I looked high and low, considered the carry bag by XP but at 52" long, it was far too big. The backpack wasn't what I was looking for either...I wanted something with separate compartments and relatively flat.

I then came across the padded Condor Rifle Case (designed for carbines) which measures 28"x12"x3" and includes an external pocket that was 18" in length as well as 12" deep. Yes the 28" length is a wee bit longer than the 22" they advertise as allowable but I've seen much larger bags taken on board with nary a raised eyebrow from the airline or TSA. The overall linear measurement of 43" however is well under the 45" standard.

It came today and everything fits perfectly--even with my 11" coil. All I did was remove the coil from the lower shaft and collapse the frame per design. I still have room for my finds bag, belt, gloves and pin pointer in the external pocket. Of course the shovels or scoops will travel in a checked bag if I go by air but I'll have the most critical components with me.

If you too are on the hunt for a good quality carry bag for your Deus, I suggest you check this one to see if it meets your needs.

Having said that, I still really like and actually prefer the unique design of the MILSPEC bag Jeremy Vance had there for awhile and will get one from him when and if he ever sells them again. Until then, I'll be happy to use the Condor.

You might be better off with the Condor.

I have the MILSPEC backpack. I like it a lot but it doesn't really provide much extra room for the pouch, belt, and lesche, without jamming them in with the Deus.
That's something I don't like to do but will when I backpack into an area. The outside pockets are barely large enough for a couple water bottles while expecting the flap to close on the Velcro strip.
The original prototype MILSPEC bag had a strap and clasp on one of the outside pockets to lash the flap closed. A mistake to eliminate that in the final product.
Since the top half of the backpack wants to close back to the bottom, it can be aggravating to insert and remove equipment.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ism, thank you for that report. I wasn't aware they had altered the original design. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Hopefully Jeremy will revert to the original when he contracts with a new maker.

Thanks again!

Ecoast, that's a good idea which never crossed my mind...thank you!!!
