Excal ii

The Excal will at times lock on the last target tone, and this causes the threshold to change pitch, it is not broken, it does NOT affect performance at all, if it bothers you sweap the coil by a piece of metal and it will revert to normal...

Good luck....... :icon_thumright:

this is true...

with my previous excalls....i would often times just run it over the top of my scoop it would settle right back down...

but i do not know why it does that...lock on a tone...seems like recovery gets interrupted or something...

things that make you say...hummmmmmm :dontknow:

Sorry I explained it wrong, it doesn't actually lock on the target's tone, the previous target tone just causes a change in the pitch of the threshold. The next target will change the pitch back to normal, or as most of us do, sweep it by your scoop....

I do a quick swipe near my scoop, which has brazed parts. The Sovereign picks up the brass in the braze and raises the threshold tone back up. I once read about a fellow that had a nickel glued inside the front of his shoe to do the same, and another person that glued a nickel to his stainless scoop.

Is there a possibility that it was a deep target causing this, but i am not getting a true target sound ?

Most likely not. I know it happens to all of us that own Excals and Sovereigns I know for sure, may happen to other models, but I have never owned them to know for sure. It is easy to adjust if it bothers you, just make a pass over your scoop or a good piece of medal if land hunting.

Thanks for your help !
