Re: Excal II / 10" on the way

Looking forward to your's and Sandman's and some other's reviews.

It appears it is only a comestic change from what I have read so far, so it will be interesting to read real reviews.

Unless there is a major improvement in the sentivity, I don't see getting one myself soon, the battery and weight improvment means very little to me since I have 3 rechargeable batteries and I've yet to hunt a battery dead, I hunt with a harness on both of my Excals and the Sov GT, with the harness the weight is nothing on my arm.

Good Luck and good hunting..........

I am very interested to see how you make out. I'm going the end of Jan on a cruise to San Juan, Tortola, Cassa de Campo, and Labadee ( private beach ) Excal in hand. I have never taken the gear on a cruise before and can't wait to get to these beaches !

Can i have it?

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

Well I defiantly will know who has the excal II.
I will be able to spot you from my house. ;D
Have fun and lets know the out come.

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

The Excal II sure is purdy...... I won't be getting one for Christmas as I am getting a Sov GT meter and inline probe instead. However who knows what would happen by spring. You guys in the warmer weather need to tell us about the warm sun and breezes.

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

Do you know if this stops the last target threshold louder problem?
That gave me a headache before.

I didn't get to use it much on the cruise, but I believe that I heard/experienced what you're talking about. So, probably not "fixed".

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

I would usually have to wave my digger next to the coil to stop it.

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

GreenMeanie...don't know for sure but I don't think your last target threshold problem was addressed in the new Excal II....I don't like the low growl sound after passing over iron and have found the easiest way to go to normal threshold is to flip from disc to pinpoint and back to disc, takes less than a second and you don't have to waste time swinging your coil around to your scoop......Rdi

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

On the subject of aftersound after hitting a ferrous target. I followed the tip that was posted by another member and split the toe of one of my flip flops and inserted and glued a penny. Now when I want to "clear" the tone, I just swing the coil by my foot. Ta Da!

While in the water, I also discovered that I could "twist" my wrist while holding the coil next to the bottom and after one or two "twists" the machine would return to my preset threshold.

I am also boning up on rip currents, scary stuff. After seeing how a fella named Ed had his floating screen set up, I decided to get one and improvise it to also serve as a safety float.

Not that I'm a sissy, but I had a rip current experience while stationed in France. As I said, scary stuff.

P.S. The above mentioned machine is the Excalibur 2.

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

Yah that low growl after passing over iron is annoying. But at least I know there is
something down there if I should want to go to all metal mode and dig it.
I just call it the excal growl. ;D
The other way to stop it is to pass the coil over gold. ;)

Re: Excal II / 10" * Arrived *

I only got to use it for 20 minutes on a beach in Jamaica...then was told by a police officer that I couldn't detect..oh well. Next time I will stay at a resort for a week instead of a cruise. 8 hours in port is not long enough, especially when unfamiliar with the area.

Well I guess I will cross Jamaica off the list.
