Excal Alkaline battery pack or rechargable?

I use rechargable. I have enough for a couple of changes for the dector and some 9 volt for the pin pointer. Wouldn't go any other way. I don't think I would get either rechargable or alkaline wet. Check with your detector manufacturer.

Im going to get an extra battery pack. Wasnt sure if I want to get the rechargable or the Alkaline. Its says its ok to wade with the Alkaline pack but is it ok to sumerge it in the water?
Get the alkaline pack and then get the NIMH replacement rechargeable batteries available on E-bay. I have two alkaline packs and have gone down to over 12 feet with no leakage. I seal them up with silicone window sealant and it works great.

The NIMH batteries from E-bay will give you tons of hours on each recharge, more than you could detect in a day.

Hey there. I just placed an order for my first proper MD and chose the Excalibur 1000 (not the II due to prrriiicce) The 1000 uses a NiCd battery, unlike the newer Excal II with its nice NiMH. Do you think I need another NiCD batt pack to start off with? IOW will one pack last 4 to 5 hours hunting before machine performance starts to deteriorate?
Thanks

I only use the NIMH pak and it does last lots more than I can detect in a day.

Hey, as long as it's a Mindlab pod which's sealed properly it should not leak. I have just ordered a new 1000 machine and spare NiCd pod. You're bound to travel out somewhere and get caught by a low battery. Just the thought of knowing it MIGHT be flat and missing that one target will kill me. So for piece of mind I bit the bullet and got it.

Just for interest sake, I believe the Alkaline pod's price is only a few dollars short of a new NiCd one.... javascript:void(0);
